Sanilac
Petroglyphs

The
Sanilac Petroglpyhs are located in Sanilac County. Located near Cass City, take M-53 to Bay City Forestville Rd., proceed East to Germania Rd. and turn South. Travel a half mile
to the parking lot located on the West Side of Germania Rd. Admission is free. Open
Memorial Day to Labor Day 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday. Please allow
two hours to tour the Petroglyphs. Attractions include a mile long, self guided walking
trail featuring peaceful forests, the nineteenth century logging camp and a 110 year old
white pine. The site is partially accessible to the handicapped. |
Sleeper State Park

Located
5 miles West of Caseville, this park has more than 4 miles of maintained trails available
to those who wish to hike or ski. These trails pass through a variety of habitats, and are
directly accessible from the campground. Trails are groomed in the winter if there is
sufficient snow. Those using the trails also have access to 2,200 acres of the Rush Lake
State Game Area, an area of forests and wetlands populated by many types of wildlife. |

This
park is located 5 miles South of Harbor Beach. This park comprises of 132 acres, with
modern, tent camping and camper cabins available, featuring nature trails throughout the
park. Open to the public, from May 1st to October 15th. |
Huron County Nature Center

The
Huron County Nature Center-Wilderness Arboretum was founded in 1990. The Huron County
Board of Commissioners established a 280 acre nature center in Hume Township on property owned by the County
since 1941. This tract, includes the 120 acre wilderness arboretum, that has been under
the care of the Huron County Women's Clubs for more than 50 years.
A Wilderness Arboretum is a place
where plants, birds, insects, mammals, fungi-all things living or dead-are protected for
scientific and educational purposes and for preservation of natural conditions. This tract
of alternating sand ridges and shallow swales is a haven for nature lovers and
environmentalists. Enjoy a refreshing walk along one of the well kept trails in the nature
center.
Located in Michigan's Thumb, 9 miles East of Caseville
or 9 miles West of Port Austin just off of M-25, turn South on Oak Beach Rd. to Loosemore Rd. East to the Nature Center entrance. 14 miles Northwest of
Bad Axe.

Located
5 miles Southwest of Port Austin on M-25. Our trail system totals almost 6 miles of varied
terrain; 2 ½ miles for hiking or cross country skiing, accessible from the campground or
across a steel bridge near the organization area. There are 3 ½ Miles of wood-chipped
trails traversing the Day Use area where hikers, joggers, skiers, hunters all enjoy the
great outdoors. |
